SearchEngineJournal: Microsoft Beta Testing New Search Engine
MSN is reportedly experimenting with a beta version of its new search results engine. According to SearchEngineJournal, the beta is "rumored to be delivering results from MSNBot," the spider many web denizens have seen in their web logs over the last few months. MSN results contain listings labeled "web directory sites." Those used to come from Looksmart, but that relationship ended on Jan. 15. Telltale Looksmart redirects could not be seen in these results today, corroborating the possibility they come from the experimental engine.
