MSN Pink Ads Pulled - Too Racy

MSN dropped a blog-targeted ad campaign by Control Room, an independent company that produced on-demand concerts for MSN, to promote a Pink concert on the portal because some of the work was in poor taste, reports AdWeek.
Control Room planned a banner push on celebrity blogs Pink is the New Blog, Perez Hilton and The Superficial, that referenced recent paparazzi photos of Britney Spears not wearing underwear. (The ads can be still viewed on here.)

"See the real Pink!" declared one ad, touting an upcoming MSN concert by the recording artist of that name, which Microsoft immediately had axed after becoming aware of the ads - because, according to MSN's GM for entertainment Rob Bennet, it was "counter to MSN's brand identity."

In an interview yesterday about the campaign, Jonathan Anastas, VP of marketing at Control Room, said an irreverent tone is a must. "In a perfect world those banners are running against the Britney Spears upskirt" photos on the site, he said.
