MPA Report: Mags Win Awards for Websites

For the first time ever, the Magazine Publishers of America has handed out a series of awards to magazine websites both overall and in niche categories according to MediaPost.
Time.com took the honors in the Business/News category, followed by Businessweek.com and Forbes.com and Technology Review, the latter two tying for third place. PCMag.com's Gearlog was named Magazine Blog of the Year, an award designed to recognize not only how original and unique the blog itself is but also how much it linked out from itself and encouraged a larger conversation.

Concierge.com's "24 Hours in…" was named Best Online Video or Video Series. Travel was also the theme of the Best Podcast or Podcast Series, National Geographic Traveler's "Walks of a Lifetime" series. "Epi to Go" from Epicurious was awarded as Best Mobile Strategy and 1UP.com's Clubs were named the Best Online Community. PopSci won Best Web-Only Tool for their "Best of What's New."

The number of awards given to Time Inc. sites, including EW.com's win in the Entertainment category, served as a vindication of sorts for Ann S. Moore's focus on digital executions at the media company.

The full list of winners and runners-up can be found at the MPA's own website.
