MoveOn Launches Privacy Campaign Against Facebook Social Ads

Dump your social network?

Calling Facebook's new Social Ads strategy an invasion of privacy, is asking Facebook members to sign a petition against the social network's new ad plan.

Specifically, MoveOn and its constituents are reacting to a new feature, implemented this week, that displays private purchases members made on other sites onto users' Facebook News Feeds.

Users must opt out of making personal purchases appear on Facebook. MoveOn believes the social network should allow users to opt in instead.

The political non-profit sent an email to its members inviting them to add a Facebook profile it created called Facebook, stop invading my privacy!

Last week, it was reported that Facebook's Social Ads may also break New York law.
