Mochila Launches Video Market, BBC Pitches In

That queen ... what a riot!

Mochila has partnered with BBC Motion Gallery, the footage licensing division of BBC Worldwide. The pair shall syndicate 800 video episodes and 60 hours of Motion Gallery Short Programs through Mochila's video market, which debuts today.

Video content will be available to Mochila members at no cost, via ad-supported and customizable widgets.

Mochila will receive 30 percent of ad revenue generated. Publishers get 30 percent, and content producers glean 40 percent.

"This partnership is part of our strategy to increase the distribution channels for BBC Motion Gallery footage and introduce the brand to new markets and users while increasing revenue," said VP Clara Fon-Sing of the BBC Motion Gallery.

In December, Mochila launched Mochila 4.0 and won the allegiance of Autonomy and GoDaddy. The charismatic young platform — which debuted in early 2007 — also syndicates content from Belo, Reuters and Citizen Image, among others.

BBC Motion Gallery content has appeared in films like The Queen, the Departed and Charlie Wilson's War.

Following the debut of its iPlayer, which enables UK residents to watch favorite shows online, the BBC began contributing clipped programming to MySpace.
