A finding that hardly surprises: A study by the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) has found that mobile marketing has the highest adoption - 30 to 40 percent - among youth, reports ClickZ (via Consumer Lab).
However, awareness had increased across all age segments, with overall wireless phone usage over the past year up 48 percent. Texting is up 69 percent, and 44 percent use it to communicate on a daily basis. Top mobile marketing services include downloads, coupons, and alert-based services.
"It is definitely the promotions-type initiatives, promotional sweepstakes and voting, that help consumers understand the device and gain greater usage," Laura Marriott, executive director of the MMA, is quoted as saying.
The MMA partnered with research firm Synovate to conduct its annual survey. Over 1,800 consumers aged 13 to 65 took part.
