MLS Goes UGC to Rekindle Fanfare

How to bend it?

Major League Soccer is hoping to generate excitement by asking fans to generate content, reports Adweek.

Soccer fans can enter the "MLS Big Shot" contest with videos of the best goal in an official match. Submissions will be screened by the MLS and posted online, where other fans can vote on them.

Finalists receive a branded t-shirt and the winner receives a full MLS prize package.

The league launched the contest when it discovered fans are more likely to attend live games after being involved with some sort of promotion.

The contest comes just as the playoffs are starting, about a month before the championship game on November 18th.
