Microsoft Search Beta Outages Spun with Blog

Reuters: Microsoft Search Encounters Glitches on First Day

Microsoft found its new beta launch of its search engine hammered by a combination of bugs and extremely high traffic, joining the innumerable other web firms that have found their initial launches plagued by blackouts and service interruptions. All that is forgivable for a beta product and is particularly well positioned because Microsoft launched an accompanying blog yesterday to talk about search developments. That site can be found here. [Readers wouldn't otherwise know from the Reuters article, as the news service appears to be as stingy as ever about linking to other sites - even when the site is the subject of a story.] Unfortunately that blog was unavailable for periods as well. In what will surely give grist to the conspiracy theorists of the web, Microsoft also reported problems with competing browser Firefox compatibility.
