Microsoft is attempting to remove Google's countersuit in the Kai-Fu Lee case from a California state court to federal court, probably to eliminate possible local bias in Google's favor, writes CNET. In its filing with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Microsoft argued that the dispute is a federal case in part because the parties are based in different states.
Microsoft is likely attempting to reduce the possibility that pro-Google sentiment in California would influence the court in a state that frowns on noncompete contract clauses, which Microsoft says Lee has violated.
