IAR: IE Patch Could Disrupt E-Commerce

Hard on the heels of announcing it will at least delay an update that breaks much rich media web content, Microsoft compensated for the burst of goodwill by announcing it is about to break some ecommerce security functions on many existing sites.

The "fix" affects sites using clear text to validate user names and passwords. The technical details are impressively tedious, and can be found here.
