Bats split the booty
Microsoft announced plans to split its Platform & Services Division in half. Kevin Johnson, who headed the once-combined entity, is also leaving the company, reports ZDNet.
Windows and Windows Live will act as one unit, run by three SVPs. Microsoft's Online Services Business will be led by an executive that has reportedly not yet been chosen. Both divisions will report to CEO Steve Ballmer.
Microsoft shares fell four percent after its fiscal year earnings went live last week. Online services underperformed, lending insight on why Ballmer, despite his media bravado, seems so keen on a Yahoo deal.
After fully transitioning out of Microsoft, Bill Gates suggested a relationship between the two companies was unlikely.
