A stoic Gates addresses the masses
At its Strategic Account summit, Microsoft emphasized a long-term view that spans a number of media platforms, reports AdWeek.
Chairman Bill Gates discussed the company's efforts to meet consumer Internet expectations down the road, highlighting the recent acquisitions of ScreenTonic and TellMe. He also called the Xbox game console a potential inroad to the combination of Internet and TV experiences.
Advertisers nodded heads to a number of Microsoft's goals, but some noted search share for the company simply isn't there, a concern that may affect the decision of many to plan for the long-term alongside it.
Gates did not mention Google at all during his remarks. He also did not address the recent rumored talks of a Yahoo merger.
