Microsoft has confirmed a trial program that pays companies for having their workers use Live Search on the job. The "Microsoft Service Credits for Web Search" program will give companies credits based on the number of searches performed, CNET reports.
The credits can be redeemed for products and training. Search blogger John Battelle first mentioned the new program, saying companies can earn a $25,000 enrollment credit, with an additional $2-$10 per computer annually.
Microsoft is hoping to collect valuable user feedback on the performance of the service in an enterprise environment.
Battelle suggests that the program could create a backlash because employees would be forced to use Internet Explorer, and so - just to stick it to the man - may instead choose to work with Firefox.
