Windows Live gets some new
friends
On the same day Yahoo declared plans to join OpenSocial, Microsoft announced interoperability deals with five social networks.
Yesterday Microsoft signed five separate agreements with social networks that will allow users to share contact data with its Windows Live platform. The networks are: Facebook, Bebo, Hi5, Tagged and LinkedIn.
Contact sharing between Facebook, Windows Live and Bebo began yesterday; the other three will unroll in the coming months.
Microsoft also launched invite2messenger.net, a service that allows Windows Live users to invite friends on other social networks into their contact lists.
Bebo, Hi5, and LinkedIn are members of Google's OpenSocial consortium.
