Internet Retailer: E-mailed payments a growth market in e-commerce, study says
A Celent Communications study reports that email payments, like those from PayPal, will continue to grow quickly, more than doubling between 2003 and 2005. The firm predicted about 135 percent growth in service fees from $134 million last year to $326 million next year. It separated out an "innovative service provider" category to keep track of payment services like those from Bitpass, Peppercoin and PaymentOne, predicting similar growth levels to $375 million in 2005. It said email payments will account for 13 percent of all e-commerce transactions in 2005, up from 8 percent in 2003.
