MeeVee Vertical Search Site for TV Launched

A search engine for finding TV program schedules and other information about TV shows has launched, reports AdWeek. Users can search on show titles, cast member names and various keywords. The startup, MeeVee, relies on advertising for revenue, and plans to promote the site through radio and outdoor ads as well as banner and search advertising.

The site's approach is similar to Google's; that is, its video search engine provides TV program information, rather than direct access to shows. Yahoo and Blinkx.tv video search, on the other hand, build indexes of video clips available online. MeeVee will offer clips from some providers, and it has already signed a deal with NBC to show footage from the network's shows.
