Meebo, a site that lets users access AIM, Messenger, Gchat and MSN buddies from one window, has launched a marketing platform. Brands on board include Sony Electronics, Havaianas, Universal Pictures, and Weezer, a band.
The platform includes both rich media and text advertising, and enables users to "select, engage with, and share branded content with their friends" in chat boxes, according to Meebo. Advertisers shall have access to reporting information and "qualitative insights."
Meebo says interaction rates for its "brands as content-providers" approach are about 10-20 times the rates of ads on comparable social media sites. Its community includes about 35 million users, which share 75 million links per month, says MediaPost.
In February, Meebo announced plans to build an ad network around chat. Read more about its ad services on the website.
The Meebo Marketing Platform will be presented at the Conversational Marketing Summit on June 10 in New York.
