MasterCard is launching an online promotion that will have fans feeling as if they are talking to some of golf's legends. That's the idea, anyway.
The promotion, beginning this week at www.priceless.com/golf, is intended to simulate a telethon, with golf players calling a number and golfing legends such as Arnold Palmer asking them a series of online questions to determine whether they are "golf obsessed," AdWeek reports.
"You know you're not on the phone with Arnold Palmer, but it's the suspension of disbelief," said Matt O'Rourke, creative director at McCann Worldgroup's MRM Worldwide, MasterCard's interactive agency.
The site is being promoted in two TV spots, and the credit card company hopes to develop priceless.com into a bonafide consumer content portal that complements the transaction-oriented mastercard.com.
