Guitar Hero, James Bond, Battle.net Serve In-Game Adverts

In-game ad network Massive inked a multi-year liaison with video game publisher Activision and subsidiary Blizzard Entertainment.

Massive will serve dynamic in-game ads across 18 of Activision's Xbox 360 and PC offerings, including Guitar Hero: World Tour and James Bond: Quantum of Solace.

A similar agreement was formed between Massive and game publisher THQ last week.

The in-game ad firm will also manage ad real estate on Blizzard's sites, including Battle.net, an online game service live in the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and South Korea. Battle.net enables users to play World of Warcraft, Starcraft and other Blizzard MMOGs — "massively multi-player online games" — over the 'net.

In addition to its agreements with Activision and THQ, Massive has a long-term deal with Electronic Arts. It's also credited with orchestrating an in-game ad campaign in 10 swing states for President Elect Barack Obama, during the weeks preceding his election.

Last week GM-Platform Services JJ Richards of Microsoft Advertising was appointed Massive's new leader.
