Horizon Media bought Mass Transit Interactive's assets in a deal that will double Horizon's online billings from about $20 million to $40 million. The companies didn't disclose terms. The deal comes after both Horizon and Mass Transit have worked in concert on several shared clients, among them A&E Networks. Horizon's purchase will mean that online media will account for about four percent of its all media billings.
Mass Transit founders and industry figures Jason Heller and Jason Burnham will continue on with Horizon. Heller will become head of Horizon's online division and Burnham will be the online group's media director.
Mass Transit has done work for Atkins Nutritionals, Fodor's and Bloomingdales. In addition to online media buying, it has become facile in email relationship marketing and search marketing.
