First iPad-only Magazine Sideways Surveys Readers
Sideways, the first magazine designed and written for the iPad, surveyed readers for its July issue, garnering a 20% response rate with 93% completion rate. The findings: 80.8% of responders were male; 50.2% of responders hold an advanced degree; the average age was 47. Finally, responders were most interested in technology, the iPad, iPod and books and least interested in sports and relationships.
Interest in HTC Up, RIM Down
A surge in online interest in HTC has likely been driven by the introduction of its EVO Android device, according to new data from Compete. In January and February 2010, HTC and RIM both held a 10% share of online interest across Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile websites. When HTC released the EVO in March, HTC's share grew to 13% while RIM's decreased to 8%. By April, HTC's share climbed to 19% while RIM remained at 8%. Since then, HTC has gabbed 25% of the interest share, while RIM has lost 40%.
Women More Likely to Use Community, Health Sites
Women are more likely than men to use community and health-oriented sites, according to a new study from comScore. The gender disparity among worldwide users, though, depends much on age. Among 15-to-24-year-olds, community sites reach 60% of women and more than 55% of men. In the 25-34 bracket, reach is slightly higher among women and slightly lower among men.
