Bing Grows Share of Vertical Search Market
Bing saw double-digit growth in four categories for the month of August: Automotive, Health, Shopping and Travel - including a 66% increase in the Shopping category, according to Hitwise. The percentage of U.S. searches for the Bing combined powered search accounted for 24.56% during that time.
Online Health Ad Strategies Differ By Age
In general, more consumers are becoming receptive to online health and pharma ads, according to a study by About.com. However different age groups need their own approaches. The study found that 32% of younger adults (25-54) find stories about people who experience the same symptoms more helpful compared to 27% for older adults 55+. Fifty-eight percent of adults 55+ said they are more receptive to ads that have information about coping with diseases and medication side effects/safety, significantly higher than for younger adults.
E-mail Dominates Mobile Web
Usage Site- and category-level data both show that email represents the largest share of US mobile internet activity, according to analysis from The Nielsen Company. In May 2010, e-mail accounted for 38.5% of use at individual site level, and 41.5% of use at the broader category level.
