Anytime a tactic is employed to draw a large group of people to one location for a specific purpose, marketers are interested. The new flash mob trend, where thousands arrive at predetermined locations to perform random behaviors, has the attention of marketers. This ClickZ article claims that marketers have been employing flash mob tactics of sorts for years and puts forth three scenarios in which marketers can capitalize further on the trend.
But marketers employing flashmobs deliberately is a bit of a stretch. These cultural oddities come and go, and marketers will forever try to capitalize upon their fadishness.
