ManiaTV Snubs User-Generated Content

Tom Green

ManiaTV, which produces live Web shows geared toward young adults, has begun phasing out user-generated content to focus solely on original programming, reports MediaWeek.

Despite all the hype over user video, ManiaTV says it is catering more toward newly-landed blue-chip advertisers that include Sony and Verizon, stating user video may lead to traffic, but little loyalty.

ManiaTV is one of the fastest growing sites on the Web. According to comScore, the site went from having 280,000 users two years ago to nearly 4.6 million today.

ManiaTV features interactive shows with such celebrities as Tom Green and Dave Navarro.
