Three Apple Mac-oriented blogs that focus on rumors that typically swirl around the "other" computer company around this time of year, prior to its new product releases, found themselves subpoenaed by Apple for documents that might show the computer giant who divulged what might be new product plans. This, in itself is not news, as it seems to be an annual event. But this time around, AppleInsider.com, PowerPage.org and Thinksecret.com may seek protection from California practices and laws that protect journalists from unreasonable subpoenas - provided the court looks upon the bloggers as journalists. Apple wants the three sites to have to divulge who told them that there was going to be a future device, code-named "Asteroid." If a judge deems them journalists, they may not have to tattle.
