Lulu Brings Self-Publishing to Borders Bookstores

Secure a high-traffic
place in the sun

Borders is availing customers to personal publishing — and high-traffic book promotion — under a relationship with Lulu, Mashable reports.

Lulu users may enlist professional editing and packaging for their books, then sell them via Borders distribution channels.

A Basic package lets authors vend oeuvres on the Borders website. Standard puts published work on Borders shelves, and Premium includes both services plus in-store programs, such as author readings. Rates are between $50 to $500.

Last year Borders and Gather.com launched a writing competition for fledgling authors. Around the same time, Lulu's CEO called the web a gateway to a golden age for words.
