IAR: MSN Search Tests Worrisome for LookSmart
As part of quarterly reports, companies are required to discuss potential threats. In its filing last week, LookSmart discussed how MSN had recently tested a new search format in the U.K. that eliminated the directory layer provided by LookSmart. LookSmart went on to state that MSN planned a similar test in the U.S. in October. The concern is that the results of the tests could lead to LookSmart listings receiving lower prominence in MSN results. MSN currently accounts for 68 percent of LookSmart's revenue.
