Microsoft's Live Search is reportedly testing the incorporation of logos into sponsored search listings.
The program is being piloted internally, according to unnamed Microsoft representatives, but was observed by a search marketing researcher whose IP was "probably […] erroneously targeted as internal."
Incorporating small images and other media into search results is increasingly trendy among search engine giants. Earlier this week Google expanded an existing AdWords favicon-incorporation pilot. (Favicons are also little brand icons, which typically appear to the left of a URL in a browser bar.)
In less subtle developments to sponsored search advertising, Yahoo introduced a program whereby major clients can incorporate video and images into their listings. And Google is experimenting with a service called Product PlusBox, which lets users expand sponsored search results to look at product listings, prices and images.
