LinkShare Award Nixed on Spyware Accusations

MediaPost: LinkShare Bestows, Then Revokes, Award For Second Time In A Row

For a second time, LinkShare took back a "Titanium Award" granted for the largest affiliate sales increases, and for the second time it is because the company first chosen as winner was accused of being a spyware concern. TheDesktopShopper.com won the quarterly $15,000 prize, but lost it when other affiliates complained. The firm is owned by Sunny View, which according to MediaPost, hosts several drive-by download software schemes. Affiliates remain very concerned that spyware companies are hijacking affiliate sales, claiming credit for leads that actually originated on their own sites.
