LinkedIn has added a services directory to its website, a feature that users of the business networking site have been asking for.
The current list of categories for the directory includes art, creative and media, consulting, employment services, financial & legal services, health & medical, home & garden, and other professional services, reports Search Engine Journal. The number of categories could expand later, and for now the networking site wants to keep the directory ad-free.
The lack of ads, along with the brand equity that LinkedIn carries with its users, could make the services directory a hit, despite competitors. LinkedIn has over 8 million users, and the majority of them aren't frequent visitors to the site. The addition of a services directory could increase not only time spent on the site but also the frequency of visits.
