Professional business networking site LinkedIn has signaled its intent to stay independent and not sell out anytime soon, reports CNN Money.
The comments come from LinkedIN CEO Dan Nye, who said existing business models for the site will provide for the site's continued growth.
LinkedIn currently boasts about 11 million members, up significantly just since September, when membership was just about six million. The site generates revenue from selling premium memberships, displaying advertising and accepting job listings.
Nye plans no changes to LinkedIn's core user experience despite calls to make it more like sites such as Facebook or MySpace. Instead, the site will continue to focus on the core market, professionals looking to connect with other professionals, which contributed to its success to date.
Nye expects that by the end of 2008 LinkedIn could have upwards of 25 million members and around $100 million in revenue.
