'Get a second life!'
In response to a recent report by Yankee Group about the "withering" impact of Second Life, Linden Lab today published a retaliatory message stating, with ardor, that Yankee Group's figures simply do not add up.
In particular, the piece takes issue with Yankee Group's assertion that the average Second Lifer spends 12 minutes per month on the site.
Linden Lab, the creator of Second Life, finds that in August, users logged in over 974,000 times, totaling 23.6 hours per user per month.
Unique user registrations were also marked at 3.7 hours per user on average, across 6.2 million users. And the cumulative total registered accounts through August, numbering 9.3 million users, clocked 2.5 hours on average per month on the clock.
