Life magazine, which Time Inc. reincarnated as a newspaper supplement in late 2004, is being killed again - but it will continue to drag out an existence online.
Time Inc. will run a website, which will include photos from Life's image collection; it will also publish Life-branded books, writes BusinessWeek (via MediaBuyerPlanner). Time Inc. cited the decline in the newspaper industry, along with poor advertising outlook, as the reason for its decision.
Life was carried in 103 newspapers. It competed in the Sunday newspaper supplement business with Parade and Gannett's USA Weekend.
Life was originally launched in 1936 as a weekly; it was suspended in 1972, brought back in 1978, suspended again in 2000.
