Korea Herald: Daum's Revenue Doubles on Ad Sales

In South Korea, where the Net is huge (the highest penetration of broadband to the of any country), a report of a leading portal, Daum.net, reporting profitability on ~$23 million in revenue in the last quarter, thanks mainly to "robust" ad sales.

Daum Communications Corp., a major Internet portal, said yesterday its revenue for the first three months ended March 31 more than doubled, helped by robust sales from online advertising.

Daum, which offers free e-mail and online community services, said its first-quarter revenue reached 28.2 billion won [~$23 million USD], up 120% from 12.8 billion won in the year-earlier period.
