The average price of keywords on search engines decreased three percent, to $1.39, in the first quarter, from $1.43 in the last quarter of 2005, writes iMedia Connection, citing a Fathom Online report. The drop was not unexpected, considering that the first quarter was coming off of a competitive 2005 holiday season.
"Search marketing is growing at a robust 25 percent this year, and price stability helps that growth. As advertisers see a more predictable keyword bidding environment, confidence in the channel grows and advertisers continue to invest further in search marketing," says Matt McMahon, VP, marketing services, Fathom.
