Google's in it again
The Electronic Frontier Foundation has sued the Justice Department over a recent lawyer hiring by Google, reports CNET.
In the fall of 2007, Google hired Jane Horvath to serve as senior privacy council for the company. Prior to that, Horvath was the chief privacy and civil-liberties officer at the Justice Department.
Horvath's tenure at the Justice Department overlaps with Google fighting a subpoena from the Justice Department, which demanded that the company surrender some web search information.
The EFF has asked the Justice Department to turn over communications between Horvath and Google. The group is not alleging Google did anything wrong, but wants to know what contact Horvath may have had with Google on the issue of data retention.
