Jupiter: Teens Dig 'Green' Ads

Green is the new hot pink

Teens passionate about the environment are mainly accepting of well-targeted online ads, reports MediaPost.

The findings come from a research study conducted by JupiterResearch. It found 38 percent of teens describe themselves as "concerned" about environmental issues. Of that number, 15 percent were labeled as "Green Teens," the most serious about environment and green culture.

That devoted subset also displays traits that are of interest to marketers. They're more likely to purchase items online, use an online photo service and otherwise participate and create using online services.

They're also more responsive to online ads - as long as those ads are well-targeted.

45 percent of the Green Teens say they like to be the first to find out about new products. Since they're also likely to be the popular kids at school, this presents an opportunity for marketers to spur word of mouth efforts in the peer group around these young environmentalists.
