Jupiter Media has purchased Mediabistro.com for $23 million, according to TechCrunch. Jupiter will pay $20 million in cash up-front and another $3 million over the next two years.
Started as a media job site by Laurel Toby in 1996, Mediabistro has grown into a network of sites that include Fishbowl NY, LA & DC blogs. Mediabistro also provides premium services for the media industry that include training seminars and on-demand video.
Touby will remain with Mediabistro as Jupiter Media senior vice president, according to The New York Times.
