Online display ad impressions in June increased 4.2 percent, reaching 97.1 billion from 93.1 billion in May, according to research from Nielsen/NetRatings' AdRelevance, reports MediaPost. About 20 percent of impressions in June were web media ads; retail goods and services-related ads rose from 14 to 16 percent, while telecom related ads dropped from 13 to 10 percent from the previous month.
With a 7.9 percent share of ad impressions in June, social networking site MySpace prevailed over previous leader MSN Hotmail, as well as Yahoo Mail.
In May, Hotmail had led with 7.4 percent, compared with MySpace's 6.3 percent.
Orbitz led all travel advertisers in June, accounting for 23 percent of travel ad impressions, a sizable increase from 16 percent in June a year ago. InterActiveCorp's share of travel ad impressions jumped from 11.3 to 15.6 percent year over year.
