ClickZ: OptInRealBig Wins TRO Against SpamCop
SpamCop, the IronPort company that blacklists reported spammers, was barred by a federal court from sending complaints to Internet companies about mass emailer OptInRealBig.com. The Northern District of California court ordered a temporary restraining order and may extend it, pending a hearing, for the rest of the period during which OptInRealBig.com is suing SpamCop. Most disruptive to SpamCop is the part of the order that also prevent SpamCop from continuing to strip out the email addresses of the people who complain that a message is spam. In effect, it annuls their anonymity.
