Earlier effort
JibJab founders Gregg and Evan Spiridellis - makers of the breakout election viral hit This Land is Your Land - have been hired by Anheuser-Busch to develop an online promotion, according to USA Today. A-B may be inspired to try something new because of dwindling earnings in its highly competitive and highly marketing-oriented market. The beer market may prove a rich environment in which to find humor. As Greg Spiridellis noted, "It's hard to think of a concept that can be viral for laundry detergent."
JibJab became famous with its politically neutral satire musical This Land is Your Land, which proved quickly to be more popular online than either the Bush or Kerry presidential campaign sites. Since then, the brothers have been regularly commissioned to produce similar pieces and have found mainstream media distribution through groups like the Jay Leno Show and Yahoo.
MarketingVOX recently interviewed Gregg Spiridellis on the capturing of the fickle fancy of the online public and will have the piece online later today.
