Another feature: design an ideal
virtual workspace
A New Zealand-based startup is taking aim at the adult social networking market with the debut of iYomu.
iYomu, which stands for "I, You, Me and Us," is for adults only: users must be 18 to join.
Instead of taking on a purely professional tack such as "traditional" adult networking sites like LinkedIn, features include custom communities - from parents of teens to golfers; a Flash-based personality test called iYDNA; and a visualization that shows which communities are related to each other.
The site is also kicking off with a $1 Million USD promotion geared toward boosting user activity, with a deadline at the end of the year.
Users will vie for the prize by gaining points through a range of user activity such as referring friends, completing user profiles and solving puzzles.
The point incentives are a feature used by kid-oriented social sites such as Gaia Online and Club Penguin, as well as virtual worlds as a whole as a way to keep websites sticky.
