UK Gawks at Doubled TV Download Costs on iTunes

US$ 4 in the UK

Since launching TV downloads on iTunes in Britain, Apple is facing criticism in the country over its high prices.

At £1.89 a show, Apple is charging double the US$ 1.99 cost Stateside. The Guardian reports that Brits can already catch up on their favorite TV shows through BBC's iPlayer, among other offerings, free of charge.

That, coupled with the sentiment that UK tech consumers are fed up with paying more for their media, may force Apple into a price drop.

The UK is the world's leading consumer of online video. However, this trend threatens to yield higher prices from ISPs in the near future.
