Iran's holiest Shiite shrine, the tomb of Imam Reza in the northeastern city of Mashhad, is now accessible to the entire online world, reports Reuters, though it is aimed at "those impatient Shiites who want to feel permanently connected to the eighth Imam," according to the supervisor of the shrine, writing on the site, Aqrazavi.org. Imam Reza was the eighth successor to Mohammad and was poisoned in 817 A.D. while traveling through Mashhad, then a tiny village. Iran is among first-adopters of the internet in the Middle East. Many of its Muslim clerics already have websites and post their edicts online.
