MediaPost writes that online research and auditing company I/PRO's acquisition of Web analytics player Datanautics, once better known as "Accrue," is a sign of the consolidation in the analytics industry. The deal closed Tuesday, and the financial details were not disclosed. Datanautics relies on packet sniffing, whereas I/PRO uses other technology; it said the acquisition would allow more efficient reporting of website visitor statistics. In March, Google bought analytics firm Urchin, and late last year DoubleClick left the analytics business.
