According to Bridge Ratings, 85 percent of 12-24 year olds surveyed turn to iPods instead of traditional radio as a preferred option for music, reports Billboard Radio Monitor (via MediaBuyerPlanner). The sample audience also preferred Internet radio over AM/FM. When given a choice between listening to music over the internet or traditional radio stations, 54 percent pick the internet and 30 percent radio.
Thirty-four percent spend more than two hours each day listening to an MP3 player. Seventy-two percent listen to new music on the internet, while only 31 percent get exposed to new music on the radio.
Two percent of the total sample listened to either XM or Sirius.
Fifty-four percent of those surveyed said there is no a radio station in their area that plays their favorite music.
