IPG's Emerging Media Lab Predicts Top Trends for the Year

Greg Johnson

The Executive Director of Interpublic Group's Emerging Media Lab last week announced his take on the top five trends in emerging media for 2007.

The physical and digital worlds will collide, consumers will build digital homes, social software will drive communications, marketers will embrace new digital media networks, and next-generation immersive content will make a splash, according to the Emerging Media Lab's Greg Johnson.

"Predictions are part science, part art and part opinion," Johnson said, explaining that the predictions take into account the Lab's cutting-edge work with IPG agencies and clients, including primary research.

"Our hope is that these five trends can help marketers decide on more strategic courses of action as they move forward with their communications programs," he added.

Johnson announced his predictions during a 20-minute interview on a video-cast called The Interpublic Point of View, on Interpublic's site. The talk show, hosted by Bant Breen, President of Interpublic's The Futures Marketing Group, examines media and marketing issues shaping the communications landscape.
