Intel and Google last week announced plans to work together to bring Google Video to the new Intel Viiv technology platform. The companies said the intent of the collaboration is to provide a simpler way for consumers to search, manage and consume the vast amounts of video information available online from their homes. Viiv technology is designed to enhance and manage digital entertainment in the home. Susan Wojcicki, vice-president for product management at Google, said both companies "believe open standards are critical to provide rapid growth in digital entertainment. Our goal is to work closely with Intel to make Google Video content available on new digital devices in the home."
