Intel, AOL Partner to Bring the Web to TV

AOL and Intel have partnered to market Intel's new Viiv technology, which is designed to bring internet content into both the living rooms and mobile lifestyles of consumers, writes MediaPost. Intel's Viiv campaign was launched by video ads on various sections on AOL.com's home page, creating "a full-motion rock video mosaic," according to the article. "The result was an online display unlike much else on the web."

Viiv banner ads are running across AOL's entertainment, music, and TV sections, and Viiv branding will be integrated into AOL's video player. As part of the effort, AOL has launched a new website, Digital Lifestyle Hub.

In turn, Intel has agreed to sponsor - via pre-roll video, logo, and banner ads - both Network LIVE (a venture of AOL, XM Satellite Radio and entertainment company AEG) and AOL's In2TV (to show episodes from 30 or so classic TV series).

Viiv-compatible computers and laptops are expected over the next months; Viiv TVs, internet-ready DVD players, and other devices are expected in the second half of the year.
