IDG's InfoWorld, the first publisher to have incorporated advertising into its RSS feed - two years ago - is now publishing full text feeds that include graphical advertising, a text ad, and related links, according to InfoWorld vice-president and general manager Matt McAlister's blog (via paidcontent).
He writes that some questions about RSS-based advertising will have to continue to be assessed: "What impact does the additional exposure of content in our feeds have on our site traffic? Will people visit the web site less? We have a lot of revenue drivers on every page of the site. So, will the advertising revenue from the feeds make up the difference in lost traffic value?" He goes on to discuss the matter, saying, "We're hopeful that this new format is going to be good for people who want our content and for advertisers who want to connect with those readers."
